As we prepare for the holiday season, there are two groups we can truly help:
1. Robyn Moore, Executive Director, Kent County Christmas Basket Committee, has asked if we can provide needed holiday gifts for Kent county youth. She really needs gift cards (McDonald’s, Arby’s, Walgreen’s, and Dominoes in $10.00 size denominations) and typical art supplies (pens, pencils, art paper, markers, and scissors). If you can bring your gift donations to the Dinner Meeting on December 12, KL Dave will deliver them to the Worton Community Center. These gifts should not be wrapped.
2. 2VDG Wayne Benjamin advises that as Christmas is rapidly approaching and I think of those less fortunate than myself. I am a board member at the Humane Society and I know many of the fifteen hard working dedicated individuals who work at our local animal shelter. Their salaries are certainly not a reason for working there! They love the animals that we call ‘man’s best friend’. I would like to appeal to the Lions Club membership to reach a little deeper into their pockets this Christmas and see if they could give a few dollars to these young men and women this Christmas as a bonus and our “thank you”. If there are those out there who prefer a check, it may be made out to Humane Society of Kent County. I am only asking for a few dollars but obviously more is always better. I would like to put a pail on the table at our Christmas Party for donations. Will be appreciated by all.
For a Happy Holiday Season.
